Al: Monday, Monday

Last night, Chris and I went with our friend Mary to see The Drams at The Earl in Atlanta. Oh, that's right. We went to town on a MONDAY night to see a band that did not hit the stage until 11:30 in the unchristian p.m.

I am so glad we did. Since we live quite north of the city now, we do not engage so much in the rock and roll lifestyle any more. It is far away. It is late. We have things to do, such as sleeping, writing, working, etc. However, we had not seen Brent Best since Slobberbone called it quits, and despite many grumblings about our old age and real world jobs, we sucked it up and went. Mary made it all worth it, of course, by being glamorous and looking fly (and I'm not just saying that because she wore her DMs t-shirt to the show, though it did help). We loved the 'bone, and as three of the members of that band formed this new one, we were surprised and impressed to see that they had built upon what they used to do to create a brand new thing. They were awesome.

At one point, the band announced that they would be recording in January and would have a record out sometime in the spring, and I turned to Mary and tried to say something smartass and she shut me down: "When is your album coming out?" Burn, Miss Stokes.

So, I am here to give an update. I still don't have a date to announce, and we are all very sorry about that, but I can tell you that great and momentous strides have been made and it will be soon. I want to give an ETA, but I am too afraid of being wrong. Let's leave it at this: only one step remains, and it will be out.

Doing this long-distance is really hard sometimes. The band is in three cities, and the recording and mastering happened in yet a fourth. That's the only way we could do it, and it worked out just fine, we've just been figuring out how to handle it as we go along.
