Allison: "Do you want to do it slow, like we did last night?"
We are having a big time, friends. A big time. The first several hours of this shindig were very weird indeed, especially for me. Somewhere around hour six, however, the groove was hit and now we seem to be doing pretty good.
The nature of doing something like this is that you never know if you're really done with anything or not, because I suppose there's a possibility that you could do it better, maybe, if you tried it another 3,000 times.
I think our engineer was kind of hating us for a while, especially when I snapped my gum into the mic, causing a big popping sound to happen where it really should not have happened. I don't even chew gum -- especially not when I'm singing, because you can die that way -- but this is all so nerve-wracking, I am going around this joint like I'm hopped up on the goofballs.
Unfortunately, we did not quite spreadsheet out the documentation plan for today, and arrived with a camera that has dead batteries. So, I'm sad to report that you will not get to see a picture of Chris wearing his "Queso Grande" t-shirt, nor will you get a shot of my face when Jesse said to me, regarding the tempo of Gone Off Somewhere: "Hey, Allison -- do you want to do it slow, like we did last night?"
Heeee. Hee.
Also, we stupidly did not eat before we showed up and wolfed down some pizza about midday. Another tactical error. It is hard to bust out the angelic vocals when the gut is full of the Hut's finest.
Really, the life lessons learned today cannot be measured with mere words. Batteries and breakfast. That's what rock and roll is really all about.
Thus far, I have not done much badass singing. I think that will be later in the week. I'm still worried about the vocal tracks of a few songs, but I'm looking forward to it. Maybe with these stinky boys out of my way, I'll be able to concentrate.
